Replay our webinar where we explored differences in mortality improvements for different groups across the US and what this means for pension plans.

In the first half, we presented recent new research from Club Vita comparing recent mortality improvements in Defined Benefit Pension plans to those seen in the overall US population. We explored how these new results fit with recent Society of Actuaries research on differences in mortality improvements between socio-economic groups and discussed how they could be implemented in practice, including a brief overview of the new SoA Mortality Improvement Model (MIM-2021).

This was followed by a panel discussion on the implications for pension plans. What do the recent differences in improvements mean in the short and long term? Should we allow for different improvement scales when modeling different groups of people? How can this be implemented in practice?
