Standard table
\ˈstændərd\ \ˈteɪbəl\
A published mortality base table, usually constructed using a large data set believed to be relevant to a number of users.
The reference population is rarely exactly appropriate to an individual user’s needs, so standard tables are often adjusted by applying an age rating or a scaling factor calculated by an A/E experience analysis or with reference to a suitable rating factor model. Standard tables can often be useful as a common reference point to allow different users to compare longevity assumptions.
