Short, medium and long cohort

\ʃɔrt\, \ˈmidiəm\ \ænd\ \lɔŋ\ \ˈkoʊhɔrt\

Three different cohort projections produced by the Continuous Mortality Investigation, each projecting the future of the ‘golden cohort differently (with short, medium and long effects).

In 2002, the Continuous Mortality Investigation created projections which took account of the ‘golden cohorteffect. Three different cohort projections were produced, each projecting the future of the ‘golden cohort’ differently. The ‘short cohort’ projections assumed that the ‘extra’ improvement in longevity experienced by the golden cohort would last until 2010 (before reverting to ‘normal’ levels of improvement), the ‘medium cohort’ projections assumed the effect would last until 2020 and the ‘long cohort’ projections assumed the effect would last until 2040.
